Former school teacher, martial arts sensei, and stand-up comic Marilina uses all her knowledge and skills to parent her 2E (twice-exceptional) son. Together, they navigate a world that neither understands nor accepts neurodivergence.

Julien is uniquely gifted and also struggles with various challenges. Twice-exceptionality (2e) often grants children unique abilities, and their future contributions could hold the key to solving some of the most pressing issues that affect us all. However, to be able to fulfil their potential, they need not just to survive but to thrive.

Through Marilina and Julien’s story, as well as others, this feature documentary explores the pathways to self-knowledge, belonging, and growth. It also contributes to a timely and complex conversation about inclusive education, mental health and neurodivergence as a whole. At its heart, this is a film about love, resilience, and the power of being seen and accepted — just as you are.
